White corundum and brown corundum are two common types of abrasive wheels used in grinding and polishing applications. Although they may appear similar in appearance, there are several important differences between the two.

White corundum, also known as white aluminum oxide, is a pure and extremely hard abrasive material. It has a high hardness rating of 9 on the Mohs scale, making it ideal for precision grinding tasks. White corundum is also heat resistant and able to withstand high temperatures without melting or warping. As a result, it is commonly used in applications where a high-quality finish is required, such as the automotive and aerospace industries.

On the other hand, brown corundum, also known as brown aluminum oxide, is a harder and denser abrasive material than white corundum. It has a lower hardness rating of 8 on the Mohs scale, but is still considered to be a durable and effective abrasive. Brown corundum is also more versatile than white corundum, as it can be used for both rough as well as fine grinding applications.
