Product Introduction

Brown Fused Alumina (BFA), also known as brown corundum, is made from high-quality bauxite through a process in an electric arc furnace at temperatures over 2200℃. It involves purification, impurity removal, crystallization, selection, crushing, magnetic separation, and screening. The product has high hardness, great strength, impact resistance, high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and low creep. Its main component is Al₂O₃ with a content of ≥95.0%, and it contains small amounts of impurities like Fe₂O₃, SiO₂, TiO₂. The product comes in various particle sizes to meet different application needs such as refractory materials, sandblasting, grinding, ceramics, etc.

Product Advantages

High Hardness and Excellent Grinding Performance

Brown Fused Alumina (BFA) is an abrasive produced by melting high-quality bauxite and coke in an electric arc furnace at high temperatures and then cooling to crystallization. With a Mohs hardness of 9.0, second only to diamond and silicon carbide, BFA possesses extreme wear resistance and exceptional grinding performance. Its high hardness enables BFA particles to more effectively cut and remove material surfaces, enhancing grinding efficiency and precision.

Strong Impact Resistance

Brown Fused Alumina has moderate toughness, which grants it both impact resistance and the ability to maintain particle integrity during grinding, preventing easy breakage. This toughness allows BFA to maintain good grinding performance and extend service life even when subjected to high pressure or impact forces. Compared to other abrasives, BFA demonstrates higher stability and durability under complex grinding conditions.

Corrosion Resistance

Brown Fused Alumina exhibits excellent chemical stability, resisting reactions with acids, bases, and other chemicals. This characteristic enables BFA to retain good grinding performance in damp, corrosive environments without compromising service life due to environmental factors. Additionally, BFA's corrosion resistance broadens its application in chemical and electronic industries.

High Temperature Resistance

Brown Fused Alumina maintains good performance at high temperatures, suitable for grinding and polishing in such environments. This feature gives BFA a unique advantage in steel, foundry, and other high-temperature applications. Even under high temperatures, BFA retains stable grinding efficiency and particle morphology, ensuring processing quality.

Ease of Processing and Shaping

Brown Fused Alumina offers a comprehensive range of particle sizes, from coarse to micro-powder grades, allowing users to select the desired granularity based on actual requirements. This granularity diversity enables BFA to meet processing needs across various fields. Furthermore, BFA's good plasticity facilitates easy processing into various shapes of abrasives, such as grinding wheels and abrasive belts, further expanding its application scope.
